NBA Legend, Business Leader & Community Advocate, Earvin “Magic” Johnson Named Official Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Community Ambassador

The Five-Time NBA Champion and Hall of Famer will join the Los Angeles Host Committee as an Official Community Ambassador to help ensure FIFA World Cup 26™ leaves a lasting impact on LA.

The Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, led by the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC), is excited to announce that one of the most influential figures in sports and business, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, will serve as an Official Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Community Ambassador for this once-in-a-generation event. Los Angeles will welcome the world as the host of the opening U.S. Men’s National Team Match at SoFi Stadium, followed by 39 days of fan experiences throughout the region.

After a legendary career on the basketball court, Magic became Chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, investing in underserved communities while building a portfolio that includes ownership stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Sparks, LAFC, Team Liquid, Washington Spirit, and the record-setting $6.05 billion acquisition of the NFL’s Washington Commanders. A proud board member of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Johnson also leads ventures in infrastructure, technology and financial services, and in 2025 was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his extraordinary impact on and off the court.
