Russia 2018 winner spoke to FIFA about his new life stateside
France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had always considered a move away from European football, and after a storied 11-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur, the FIFA World Cup™ winner finally took the plunge.
Late last year, Lloris made the decision to cross the Atlantic and relocate to the west coast of the USA. His new home is Los Angeles FC, where he has settled in with remarkable ease.
Sitting down for an interview with FIFA, the legendary goalkeeper spoke about his move to a country that will co-host the FIFA World Cup 26™, his acclimatisation to Major League Soccer (MLS) and his ambitions with LAFC.
Was the USA your first choice?
The USA has something about it. When it comes to sport, I like the approach and the culture they have, and I also saw that for myself straight away with the school my children attend. California is a fantastic place to live, too. It’s really nice to have the time to discover the Pacific coast and be there all year around. There’s a good balance between enjoying yourself away from the game and having fun on the pitch while playing games.
